Shirley "Lee" LeBlanc Obituary

Shirley "Lee" Le Blanc

Greenfield NH - Shirley "Lee" Le Blanc, 91, of Greenfield, NH passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024, at her home in Greenfield. She was born on January 20,1933 in Boston, MA the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Mercer) Gilbert.

Lee was raised in Wellesley, MA and graduated from Wellesley High School in 1951. She went on to graduate from Stephens College in Columbia, MO in 1953. Lee worked for United Airlines in Boston and NYC and as a school bus driver in both NY and NH. She worked locally in NH at Crotched Mountain Ski Area in ticketing and as a receptionist, MWS, Tory Pines Resort, Brookstone, and at her favorite job before retiring, Millard Group.

Lee did some clogging with the Monadnock Mavericks Dance Group. She enjoyed listening to music and loved dancing. She especially enjoyed listening to bands on the Greenfield Common lawn. Her FAVORITE spot for music and dancing was at the Adams' garden parties in Greenfield where she would dance the night away, even in her 90's. Many thanks to Adams for great memories!

Lee had a love for being at the ocean beaches in FL, NH, and Cape Cod as well as camping with her family in North Truro, MA.

Lee's true passion was the Town of Greenfield, and she would proclaim, "I just love doing things for the Town". Over the years Lee was given the nickname " Queen of Greenfield".

In 1934 Lee's parents bought property in Greenfield which they named WinnRose Farm. Growing up, some of her best memories started in the 1950's at WinnRose with family and friends as they moved in full-time in 1957. While living there, her family supported the Troops in their home. This is where Lee learned the meaning of 'Proud To Be An American".

Lee was very well known for being a devoted community volunteer. She followed her parents' passion, making the Town a great place to live. Over the years, she worked on many town committees, including Cemetery Trustees, Oak Park, Blueberry Jamboree, Library, Woman's Club, Memorial Day Parade, Coordinator/Co-Founder for the Greenfield Independent Volunteers (known as GIVers). In 2016 she rode in the Greenfield 225th Anniversary Parade as "Miss Whing Ding 1957" and in 2021, the Fire and Ice Parade as the Grand Marshal.

Lee will be fondly remembered for sitting outside her residence with her "ALL AMERICAN SPIRIT", waving her American Flag and WAVING to ALL that drove by with her "God Bless America" signs as well as signs for supporting town events.

Lee will be dearly missed by her brother Robert Gilbert and his family of Franconia NH; her children, Cheri Le Blanc, Wayne Le Blanc, and Michelle Le Blanc all of Greenfield, and Mark Le Blanc, and his wife Vickie, of Long Island NY; her grandchildren, Jessica Le Blanc of West Palm Beach FL, Tyler Le Blanc of Greenfield, and great grandchild Emily Aho of Rindge. She will also be missed by her many loving friends.

Lee was predeceased by her husband Joseph Le Blanc Jr, and two grandchildren, Triciah St John and Brian Le Blanc.

A graveside service will be held May 4, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Greenvale Cemetery, Greenfield, followed by a time to share memories and refreshments at the Greenfield Covenant Church, 12 Depot Drive, Greenfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lee's name to the Greenfield Fire Department.
